Darjeeling can be reached via Siliguri which is a 3hr drive . Alternatively travelers can also choose to travel by road or shared cab via Siliguri.
It is about 14 hours away from Kolkata by bus. Distance between Siliguri and Darjeeling is 640 km..
After taking the train from prayagraj to NJP, we were taken to the hotel in darjeeling by a shared cab that charged 300 rupees. We reached Darjeeling in 3 hours from Siliguri. You can watch my YouTube video and find out full detail.
How to reach Darjeeling by train-
1) The best way to reach Darjeeling is by train from any city in India.
2) The nearest railway station is in Siliguri junction and Newjalpaiguri railway station. It’s at a distance of around 75 kilometers from there to Darjeeling.
3) You can use the Toy Train, which takes approximately 8 hours, or a bus service, which takes 4 hours, from Siliguri to make your way to Darjeeling.
It is possible to reach Darjeeling by train or by DHR. It is advisable to take the train because it is more convenient and slower.
How to reach Darjeeling by flight-
If you would like to have a flight to reach Darjeeling you need to go to the nearest airport. The nearest airport is Bagdogra Airport which is located in siliguri. It takes about 3 hours by road from Bagdogra Airport to Darjeeling.

Day- 1 Arrival in Darjeeling-
I arrived in Darjeeling on the morning of 14th October, took rest and checked into the hotel. I had lunch at the hotel. I had dinner at a Tibetan restaurant, I was amazed and grateful for the hospitality.
You can also visit the local market on the first day. You can also do your shopping at the Darjeeling market at a budget.
Day -2 Darjeeling sightseeing
Darjeeling is a town in the Indian state of West Bengal, located at the eastern edge of the Indian subcontinent, with some of its border regions touching Nepal to the east.
It is located at an average elevation of 4100 ft.
On the 2-day trip, you’ll visit Tiger Hill, one of Darjeeling’s tallest viewpoints and experience a ride on the toy train to enjoy tea gardens.

Day-3 departure from Darjeeling-
It took me half an hour to checkout from the hotel. The hotel staff also seemed to be in a mood to look at the clock and hurry customers out. The cab was waiting for me outside. I checked out, got my luggage and then walked across the road to take a cab for siliguri.
